Why are Moen Tub Fixtures So Expensive?

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prices of Moen tub fixtures lately. I'm after some simple options that allow me to control both water volume and temperature. I previously installed Moen Posi-temp fixtures in my showers and had a good experience with them. The mixing valves were around $100 each along with the trim kit. However, I recently checked the prices for their M-core series and was shocked to find the mixing valve without the cartridge priced between $50 and $70, while the actual fixtures range from $250 to upwards of $300! I honestly don't need anything fancy — just a simple brushed nickel valve handle and a tub spout. Should I be considering a different brand, or are there affordable options I might be overlooking?

What kind of budget are you aiming for? I just purchased a complete Moen kit (valve, spout, shower head, and handle) for about $189. They have decent options at a lower price point. Check your local Home Depot!

I found a couple of Moen options at Home Depot. One kit was for $189 and another was just $114. Here's a link to the cheaper one: [Moen Conway Tub/Shower Faucet](https://www.homedepot.com/p/MOEN-Conway-Single-Handle-1-Spray-Tub-and-Shower-Faucet-1-75-GPM-with-Valve-in-Spot-Resist-Brushed-Nickel-Valve-Included-82922SRN/327789799). They worked well for me, but keep in mind that the Posi-temp models only let you control temperature with the faucet and don’t have flow control, which can lead to higher prices on other models.
