Why Are My Back Patio Lights Not Working?

0
Asked By SunsetChaser92 On

I have lights on my back patio that suddenly stopped working. There are two switches controlling these lights: one in the master bedroom and one in the living room, both of which have access to the patio. The living room switch is programmable, but neither switch currently turns on the patio lights. I've checked the breaker panel, and everything seems normal there. The outdoor outlets on the patio are functioning fine, so it seems like the issue is only with the recessed light fixtures on the back patio. Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like your switches are meant to control the same pair of lights. If they were installed properly, they might be three-way switches, but since your house was built in 2020, they should work just fine. Have you checked if one of the switches is malfunctioning? That could be worth looking into!

Have you tried changing the bulbs? Sometimes it can be the simplest issues that trip us up. Just a thought!

Not a dumb question at all! I had that happen once. Just checking, are the bulbs relatively new?

Just because the breaker looks okay doesn't always mean it is. It might have tripped slightly. I'd recommend resetting the breaker and seeing if that solves the problem. Also, check for any GFCI outlets that might have tripped, as they can sometimes cause issues with outdoor lights.
