Why Are My Carrot Tops Rotting in the Pot?

Hey folks, I'm trying to grow some carrot greens from the tops in a small pot, and they were doing great initially. However, I've noticed the carrot tops have started to rot and feel mushy. Can anyone shed light on what might be causing this?

Honestly, trying to grow carrot greens from just the tops can be a struggle since they really need a decent root system to thrive. If you didn’t leave much of the carrot itself, it probably doesn’t have the nutrients it needs. For future attempts, you might find more success by planting full seeds rather than cutting tops.

Overwatering could definitely be an issue too! If the soil is constantly soggy, it can lead to root rot. Make sure the pot has good drainage and only water when the top feels dry. Just keep an eye on your watering habits!

It sounds like your carrot greens might be struggling because they’re not getting enough energy from the roots they’re attached to. Since the roots were already cut off, they likely used up all their energy and started to rot. Instead of trying to grow from cut tops, you might have better luck planting seeds next time!
