I've got some crocuses that seem to be struggling. They sprout up nicely, but within just a couple of days, they fall over. They're planted in a spot that's pretty sheltered from the wind, so I don't think that's the issue. It's too early in the season for slugs, and there are no pesky squirrels around. Could my planting technique be the problem, like maybe I planted them too shallow?

This year seems weird for a lot of plants. Mine aren’t popping up either, and my Japanese quince usually starts flowering by now but is pretty quiet. Maybe they’re just waiting for a proper cold snap to kick in?
It might be those pesky pigeons! They love to peck at crocuses. I’ve heard they do it just for fun, rather than for any real gain. To protect your plants, you might need to consider putting up some kind of fencing or try to scare them off. It's tricky!
I can't believe how much damage pigeons can do! I’ve seen them shred everything, even dandelions!
I don't have pigeons in my little courtyard but I get magpies. Could they be the problem too? I still lean toward thinking it might be about the bulbs being too shallow.
My quince is just sitting there with swollen buds, and it’s been like that all February! I feel like it just needs a bit more warmth and it’ll be ready to go. At least this feels more normal compared to some of the odd seasons we’ve had recently!
