I recently moved and had to downsize, so I bought a 36-inch saw track instead of a table saw. However, I'm struggling to make straight cuts; they always end up either off from my line or taking off an extra 1/8 inch. I've tried a bunch of techniques like going slow, using clamps, and cutting on different surfaces, but nothing seems to help. Am I doing something wrong, or do some saw tracks just perform better than others?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a couple of issues here. First, check that your saw is properly aligned with the track; sometimes, there are adjustment screws that need tweaking. If the saw moves around on the track, that’s a big problem. Also, make sure you use the rubber strip that usually comes with the track; it helps ensure your cuts are right where you want them. And don’t forget, the track should sit on the piece you're keeping, not the scrap! Adjust accordingly if needed.
What materials are you working with? If you're cutting larger sheets, they can be a bit trickier to manage. Also, keep in mind that the type of saw and blade matters; an 18-tooth blade can be great, but make sure it’s sharp and correctly installed. You might just need to get the hang of the new equipment since you’ve switched from a table saw. Don't beat yourself up over it!
Exactly! It's all about getting used to the new setup and the learning curve that comes with that.
Don’t worry; you’re not stupid! It can definitely feel discouraging seeing influencers get perfect cuts while you’re struggling. Just remember, they may have years of experience! Try looking up some setup videos online, as they could provide you more insights into your specific model. And hey, practice makes perfect, so keep at it!

Yeah, aligning and calibrating are key! I had a similar issue until I figured that out.
