I'm having a recurring issue with my Decora light switches breaking around the pivot point. I've replaced several of them, but they keep breaking in the same way. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm curious if there's a specific reason behind it. I have some photos of the damage that might help clarify the issue: [link to images](https://imgur.com/a/mpjgMoI).

Yeah, those switches can crack even if you aren't using them hard. I’m guessing some might be installed too tightly or just quality issues from wear and tear. It might also help to look into using cleaning solutions carefully; some can cause subtle damage too. Have you considered trying a different brand?
It sounds like your switches might be getting abused a bit! I had a similar issue with my stepson who would whack the switches to turn them on and off. After he had to replace one himself, he learned to just press them gently and we haven't had any breakage since. Just something to think about!

The photo shows a Leviton switch, which is usually a reliable brand, so it seems strange that they keep breaking. Just avoid unconventional methods like turning them off with a 2x4!
