Why Are My LED Floodlights Glowing Dimly When Off?

I have an off-grid cabin powered by an EG4 3000 inverter connected to two EG4 LiPo 48V batteries. My inverter is hooked up to a breaker panel, but I'm noticing a faint glow coming from my LED floodlights even when they're switched off. I've grounded my panel to a ground rod, and the wiring is relatively new. Also, I've experienced occasional flickering from my indoor LED can lights. Any ideas why this might be happening?

You might be experiencing issues due to an earth/neutral bonding problem. Check if there’s any voltage between your neutral and earth—this could be where the glow is coming from. Also, if your inverter has a neutral ground bonding screw, make sure it’s still in place as per the manual. Losing that bond can lead to strange electrical behaviors.

It could be high-frequency noise from your inverter coupling through the wires, sending a tiny current to your LEDs. If it’s safe, try adding a resistive load at the LED end when the inverter is on but the light switch is off. This might help eliminate the ghostly glow!

It sounds like you might have smart switches that don’t use a neutral wire. These can keep a tiny amount of power flowing through the circuit, which is enough to light up LEDs dimly since they consume so little power. Try removing all but one bulb—sometimes the last bulb can get brighter due to this effect! If that doesn’t help, you might have a power leak creating a strange circuit somewhere.
