I've had two M18 8.0XC batteries die on me recently. Interestingly, I have older batteries that have seen way more use and are still working fine. I managed to find the receipt for one of the dead ones and submitted a warranty claim. They confirmed that the battery is indeed under warranty but denied my claim, saying it wasn't a manufacturer defect or quality issue. I'm careful with my tools, so it's frustrating. What's the purpose of the warranty then? Also, what battery options do you all recommend for replacements?

Yeah, the 8.0 high output batteries do have some known issues with their cells. If you’re looking for a reliable alternative, you might want to check out the Forge 8.0; it’s supposed to be a significant step up from the M18s.
I get where you're coming from! It really shouldn’t be that complicated. Unless there's evidence of misuse, I’d expect warranty coverage too. It's kind of a bummer when they deny claims like that. Maybe consider looking into other brands or models that have a reputation for better battery longevity.
