Why Are My Succulent Leaves Turning Reddish Brown and Shriveling Up?

I recently got a green succulent that I really liked, but I've noticed its leaves are turning reddish-brown and shriveling up. After some research, I found that this can be caused by too much sunlight, but my succulent is near a west-facing window that's shaded and not overly bright. Could there be another issue at play here? Also, does anyone know what type of succulent this is?

Windowsills can be tricky for succulents. Depending on your window type and the light intensity, they might not get enough light, which can cause the leaves to change color and shrivel. Make sure to check if it's really getting enough filtered light. If in doubt, consider a grow light!

Got it! I’ll look into getting a grow light if the direct sun isn't an option. Thanks!

Hey! It sounds like your succulent may be struggling with light acclimation. Most succulents from nurseries aren't used to direct sun. They should be introduced to more sunlight gradually to prevent stress and sunburn, even if it doesn't seem that bright by your window. Try moving it to a spot where it can get more indirect light and see if that helps!

That makes sense! I'll try that. Thanks for the tip!
