Why Are My Tomatoes Developing Black Tops Around the Stem?

I'm growing tomatoes for the first time in a long while, and I've noticed that all my tomatoes have developed black tops around the stem. I've attached a picture to show you. One tomato has ripened, but it still had some black around the stem. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? I'm growing them in a pot and I'm not sure if I gave them enough water at the beginning, but overall they're doing well—there are about a dozen tomatoes that are still waiting to ripen. Any insights would be appreciated!

From what I've read, this can also happen with varieties like Brandywine, especially in cooler temperatures. It's just some anthocyanin buildup, which is harmless and common, so don’t worry!

You're probably seeing the natural dark coloration typical of some heirloom varieties. Have you checked if you planted something like Black Krim or Cherokee Purple? They often have dark shoulders, and it's totally normal! You're likely growing something really tasty.

It's pretty normal! The black tops are often just a characteristic of the tomato variety you're growing. Do you happen to know what type you planted?
