Why Are There Bubbles in My New Vinyl Siding?

I had my vinyl siding replaced about a month ago as part of an insurance claim after a hail storm. Recently, I noticed some bubbles and bumps on the siding (check them out here: [link](https://imgur.com/a/certainteed-encore-siding-bubbles-LdV7h21)). A friend mentioned that these issues could arise if the siding was installed too tightly, which prevents it from expanding and contracting with temperature changes. However, my contractor claims that the bubbles are simply a result of the recent warm weather and insists it's not his responsibility. We haven't finalized payment nor signed off on the work, so I want to get this sorted out before going any further. Can anyone shed some light on this situation or provide resources that can help me address it with my contractor?

It sounds like the installation was done incorrectly. When the fasteners are too tight, the siding can’t expand properly with the heat, leading to those bubbles you’re seeing. Ideally, the middle fastener should be snug, while the others should be left a bit loose. This allows for proper movement. It looks like all your fasteners might be too tight, especially since the buckles are so uniform and located around where the fasteners are.

Thank you for the insight!

This seems like a classic case of improper installation. The bubbles usually happen when the siding isn’t installed with enough flexibility. If you have access to installation guides, you could use that to argue your case with the contractor. It's definitely worth addressing before you approve the work.

Yep, it’s definitely the heat causing the bubbling, but that’s a result of them nailing it too tightly. They should've allowed some room for expansion. You should definitely push your contractor on this—it's not just about the heat; it’s about how the siding was installed.

Thanks for confirming that!
