Why Are There Fewer Frogs in Ponds This Year?

I've been noticing that frogs seem to be late showing up to the ponds this year. Is it just too cold, or could the rise in cat populations around my area be having a negative impact on the local wildlife?

Cats probably aren't the main issue this time. Last season, we had a huge decline in insects, which likely affected the frogs' food supply. I’ve heard stories of rats eating frog spawn too!

Frogs have shown up early in the past, but it really varies year by year. I can't wait for the frog parties to start!

Totally agree! Their gatherings are the best part of spring!

Yeah, I love seeing them all come together, but it seems like we just gotta be patient this time.

I think it's just a bit too early for frogs. They typically don’t appear until it warms up a bit more. You might just need to wait a little longer!

Yeah, it's hard to enjoy a sunny winter morning when all you want is some frog action! I feel you.

Exactly! I usually see them in early February, but if the weather's been chilly, they might just be hanging tight.
