Why Aren’t My Habanero Peppers Growing?

I've got a habanero plant that's blooming with flowers, and I've been hand-pollinating them, but I'm not seeing any peppers form. Is there something I'm missing here? Do I need two plants for pollination? The plant looks really healthy, but nothing's happening. For reference, I'm in Zone 8b, and my jalapeño plant next to it is doing just fine.

Have you checked the temperatures lately? A lot of plants will struggle to set fruit if it's scorching hot outside. How have your temps been running?

It’s been pretty hot, like high 80s to high 90s. It’s cooling down a bit now into the low 80s.

You actually don't need two plants; a single healthy habanero should be able to produce fruit on its own. Just make sure to try hand-pollinating again in the morning when the flowers are at their freshest! ?️
