Why Aren’t My Tomatoes Growing Like They Did Last Year?

I've been noticing that my tomato plants aren't getting any bigger. I used the same containers as last year when they thrived, so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. Could it be the weather or maybe something else? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your plants might be root bound or lacking nutrients. Even if the containers worked last year, the soil may have lost its nutrient density. I recommend re-potting your tomatoes with a good mix of compost and garden soil (2:1) and adding a slow-release fertilizer designed for tomatoes. Water them well, and the next day, hit them with a diluted fish fertilizer for a nutrient boost!

Yeah, I've been cautious with the fertilizer since I don’t want to overdo it, but the soil might really need a refresh!

It could also depend on where you live! If the weather's been fluctuating a lot—going from hot to cold without much sun—it could definitely hinder their growth. Just some food for thought!

That might be it! Hopefully, they'll bounce back soon.

Have you been experiencing any unusual cold weather lately? This spring has been quite chilly in some areas, which could affect growth. I’ve seen records for low temperatures in May in some places, so it might be worth checking if that’s impacting your tomatoes too!

I've been trying to bring them inside during the cold nights, but it still feels pretty chilly overall.
