I was working from home with my wife when we heard three loud popping sounds, which we initially chalked up to the neighbors. However, today my wife discovered that three tiles in our primary bathroom had cracked. We're confused about what could have caused this. The house is only two years old, but I did notice some moisture in my closet, which I thought was just from sweaty clothes. I even found some mildew on my hats after cleaning it out and putting moisture absorbers in there. Any ideas on what might be going on?

You might want to look for settlement cracks in your foundation. With your house being relatively new, it could be settling. If that's not the case, just repair the tiles and monitor for any future problems, or see if it's covered under warranty.
It sounds like there could be a couple of factors at play here. If the tiles didn't have enough space for expansion, that can definitely cause them to crack. Also, if a decoupling membrane wasn't used during installation, that could lead to similar issues. It's worth checking how the tiles were installed.
Nailed it! That makes a lot of sense.

What do you mean by “settlement cracks”? Like where the foundation shifts?
