Why Did My Miter Saw Stop Working After So Few Cuts?

I recently used my M18 12" miter saw, which hasn't seen much action over the years. After making about 20 cuts on some shiplap, it suddenly stopped working in the middle of a cut and won't start up again. The light still turns on, but the blade remains unresponsive. I'm looking for any advice on what could be wrong or how to fix it!

It sounds like a bummer! Since the light comes on, that suggests it’s getting power, but the blade not engaging could be a sign of a bad switch or loose wiring. You might want to take it apart and check for any obvious issues. That's what I'd do—I mean, what's there to lose? Just be careful if you decide to dive in!

If it’s been sitting for a long time, it might just need some TLC. You could check for continuity at the switch, but if you've already done that and didn't find any burning smell from the motor, it could just be a faulty part that's replaced easily. Have you looked into the warranty situation on this saw? It might still be covered!
