I'm having trouble with my orchid, and I'm not sure what's going wrong. I water it once a week to keep the soil moist, and I spray it every morning to boost humidity. Everything seemed fine until I noticed the buds drying up over the last couple of days. Just to add, I'm changing the soil every 3-4 months. Any advice on what might be causing this?

It sounds like the issue might be related to the type of soil you're using. If you're using regular Miracle Grow soil, it might not be ideal for your orchid. Phalaenopsis orchids prefer a more airy substrate, like bark, that allows the roots to breathe. Keeping the soil too moist could lead to root rot, which might be why the buds are dropping. Try switching to an orchid mix and see if that helps!
Overwatering could definitely be a factor, especially if the weather has been cooler. Orchids do like humidity, but the soil needs to dry out between waterings. You might want to let the top layer of the soil dry before you water again. Just something to keep an eye on—your orchid will appreciate it!
Great point! I've noticed my orchids thrive when I let them dry out a bit. They’re quite picky, aren't they?
That makes sense! I had a similar issue, and switching to a proper orchid mix really turned things around for me. Good luck!
