Why Do Ceiling Fan CFM Ratings Vary So Much?

I'm curious about the significant differences in CFM ratings for ceiling fans that are similar in size. My wife and I are searching for a 42" ceiling fan, and we've found three options we like, but their airflow ratings are all over the place. For instance, a Harbor Breeze fan from Lowes boasts 4074 CFM, while a 48" Parrot Uncle fan from Walmart has only 2841 CFM, and surprisingly, a 42" River of Goods fan from Home Depot only claims 80 CFM. So, do various manufacturers measure CFM differently, or is there genuinely this much difference in fan performance? Also, I've never heard of some of these brands like Parrot Uncle or River of Goods. Are there many different ceiling fan manufacturers out there, or do some companies just rebrand their products under different names? Thanks for your insights!

CFM ratings can definitely vary due to several factors like the size of the fan, the number of blades, blade pitch, and the RPMs. For example, a room size can also impact how effective a certain fan could be. If you're using a 42" fan, I'm assuming it's for a smaller room, right? What size is your space?

It's actually a dining area with a small chandelier. The room has a high arched ceiling and opens into a living room where there's a 52" fan that circulates air well. We want the new fan to help cool both spaces.
