Hey folks! I'm really struggling with my thin, commercial-style carpet in my apartment. Whenever I lay down rugs, they always seem to shift a lot—sometimes even moving feet over time in the same direction, probably because of the carpet fibers. I've already tried a few things: double-sided rug tape, adhesive Velcro, and rug underlays, but nothing seems to work for long. Does anyone have any suggestions for permanent solutions? I really want to tackle this issue once and for all! Thanks!

It sounds super annoying! If your rugs are moving that much, you might want to consider tacking or nailing down a rubbery, sticky layer to your carpet. Then, put the same kind of material underneath your rugs. This should create a high-friction surface on both sides, so they stay put. It might just be the solution you're looking for!
You could also try using some grip contact paper! You know, that non-adhesive shelf liner stuff? Just put it underneath your rugs to increase friction. There's a variety of it available at most home improvement stores, and it really could do the trick!

That's a solid idea! I think having that rubbery grip could really help keep everything in place.
