I've recently acquired a bunch of DeWalt tools for my DIY car maintenance projects at home, and I'm really enjoying them. However, I've started to notice that a lot of the mechanics and car enthusiasts on YouTube seem to favor Milwaukee tools. I'm curious about why this trend exists. I love my DeWalt tools, but I'd like to understand the preference for Milwaukee among these creators.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I know many real-life mechanics use a mix of brands like Milwaukee and DeWalt. Milwaukee has a stronger presence in certain trades, probably helped by their success in the 12v market, which might make their tools seem more appealing for quick tasks. Plus, the marketing definitely gets people caught up in trends!
It seems like sponsorship plays a big role. A decade ago, you’d see a mix of brands in DIY content, but then Milwaukee really ramped up its marketing strategy. They started sponsoring many channels, making their tools ubiquitous almost overnight. Meanwhile, DeWalt seemed to just vanish from the scene, as if Milwaukee did a full takeover of the tool market. Their viral marketing worked wonders!
Interestingly, while almost all the mechanics on YouTube seem to gravitate toward Milwaukee, many woodworkers I follow still stick with DeWalt. Just shows how different communities prefer different brands. Sponsorships are likely involved, but ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and the kind of tools they find useful!

Yeah, you'd think other brands would try to copy that success if it worked so well for Milwaukee.
