Why Does My Bedroom Sometimes Smell Like Expired Vegetables?

I've been noticing a faint smell in my bedroom that reminds me of old broccoli or expired vegetables. This has been happening for the past few months, and even though it's not strong, I can catch a whiff of it when I leave and come back in, or sometimes I notice it at night. Our bedroom is very clean, with hardwood floors that I maintain regularly, and we don't have pets or smoke in the house. The smell isn't persistent, cropping up maybe once or twice a month. I'm concerned it might be something like a dead animal in the walls, but I would think that would be more consistent. Can anyone help me figure out what might be causing this weird smell?

It sounds like it could be something trapped inside the walls or maybe even in your HVAC system. Sometimes, if something died a long time ago, it can give off a smell now and then, especially when the temperature changes. I’d recommend checking for any possible entry points or vents.

Look for any old food or items that might’ve gone bad. You might also want to try using an ozone machine to help clear the air, but be cautious since breathing in ozone can be really hazardous.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into getting an ozone machine. I appreciate the warning!
