Why does my chainsaw keep stalling when I touch the chain?

I've got a chainsaw that starts up fine and runs, but as soon as I touch the chain to even a twig, it just stops. I've made sure it's clean and the bar and chain oil are full, but it still gives me trouble. I'm looking for some advice on what might be causing this issue. I recommend posting a picture with the chain tension cover off. That squealing sound when it stops can mean the motor is still running but the chain has stopped moving, which isn't normal. Try removing the battery, take off the cover, and share a photo for more specific advice!

Here's the pic after taking the cover off: https://imgur.com/a/tXa8GhR. It feels like there might be an internal issue because if I take the bar and chain off, the motor stops if I put any slight pressure when it's running.

First off, check if the chain is installed correctly and make sure the tension is set properly. Sometimes a loose or incorrectly installed chain can cause problems, even if it seems okay.
