Why Does My Dado Stack Sound Different?

Hey everyone! I recently used a quarter-inch dado stack on my Dewalt table saw and while the cut came out great, I noticed the sound was quite different. I'm curious if dado stacks typically have a different sound due to their rotational mass or something else. I feel safe using it since there's plenty of arbor to accommodate it. Any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot!

Yeah, dado stacks do have a unique sound! It's mainly because of their mass and the larger contact area on the teeth. Some folks describe it as a flapping noise. It’s totally normal, especially for your first time using one. Just keep an ear out for anything that sounds off!

That’s a great description! I can see how the sound would be different. After losing part of my thumb to the saw last year, I'm extra cautious about everything!
