Why Does My Drum Sander Keep Ruining Sandpaper?

I've been having a frustrating issue with my drum sander—every time I use it, the sandpaper seems to get ruined, and it's driving me nuts! I've already spent a lot on sandpaper. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I've shared some images in the comments for reference. Thanks for any tips!

I can relate! The dust extraction might not be strong enough if you're seeing dust clumps on your paper. You mentioned you're using a big double drum sander with a 1.5 hp dust collector—do you think it’s possible that's not keeping up?

Do you happen to use an abrasive cleaning stick? Also, is your dust extraction system working well? Those are pretty crucial for keeping the sandpaper clean while you're working.

That's how it goes sometimes! Have you tried using one of those eraser cleaning sticks? They can help a lot. You might also need to play with your feed rate—if you’re already at the max, maybe try adjusting your technique a bit.
