Why does my garage door opener reverse halfway down?

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my garage door opener. It goes halfway down and then reverses back up. I noticed that the green sensor starts blinking when this happens. Any ideas on what's going on and how I can fix it?

Another thing to check is the downforce setting on your opener. If the door encounters any resistance, it might reverse. Look for an adjustment knob on the opener itself and try increasing the downforce a bit to see if that helps!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check the downforce setting later. Hopefully, that helps.

Sometimes, it's just a matter of a sensor going bad. I had a similar issue, and my sensors looked aligned, but they were malfunctioning. Replacing them fixed the problem for me. You might want to consider that if adjusting the alignment doesn’t work.

Good point! If they’re old, it might be worth getting new ones just in case.

It sounds like your sensors might not be aligned properly. Make sure they're directly facing each other; they can easily get kicked out of alignment. They're usually positioned low on either side of the door inside your garage, so double-check that!
