I've noticed that my garage door opener occasionally requires two presses to operate. At first, I thought it was just a random issue—maybe I wasn't pressing hard enough the first time. However, I've figured out that when I use the same remote (like the car remote, inside button, or outside pad), it always works on the first press. The problem arises when I switch inputs; for instance, if I open the garage with the car remote and then try to close it using the inside button, it *always* requires two presses. But if I use the inside button by itself, one press is usually enough. Is there some kind of rolling code or cipher issue going on here? Just so you know, I've checked and the batteries in my remotes are fresh, and the inside button is wired directly to the opener, so it shouldn't need a battery.

Great Troubleshooting! I have the same problem. It affects the coolest feature of the system -- auto closing when I leave and auto opening when I return. I'm so disappointed.
It's actually pretty weird that the hard-wired inside button would also be part of a rolling code sequence. Normally, those should only affect wireless remotes, right? Maybe it's something in the setup of the opener.
What brand and model of garage door opener are you using? That might shed some light on the problem!
Sounds like a classic case of rolling code issues or possibly that your opener needs a new battery. Just curious, do you know how rolling codes work?
I’ve heard of rolling codes but don’t really know how they function. Could use some insight if you have any!
Have you tried changing the battery in your remote? Sometimes even tiny issues like that can cause weird behavior.

I have a Chamberlain belt-drive myQ Model # B2211T, which was installed new in 2024.
