Why Does My House Smell Like Burnt Radiators?

Today, I noticed that every room in my house started to smell like a burnt radiator. Nothing has changed, and we've been using the heaters consistently during winter for a couple of months now. Could anyone explain why this is happening and suggest how to fix it?

It sounds like that burnt dust smell. Maybe check behind your dryer or the vent to see if the smell is stronger in certain areas. You could try closing the doors and see if that intensifies the smell in one room. Just a heads up, it’s worth checking because something might be burning somewhere.

If you’re using a heat pump, it might be struggling to keep up with the cold today, causing the backup heat to kick in. These resistive heaters can burn off dust if they haven’t been used in a while, which could explain the smell. If you're not using a heat pump, definitely check your filters and see if there’s anything else amiss.

Hey, have you checked your air filters? They might need a change, especially if the smell is new. Dirty filters can definitely lead to some funky odors!
