Why Does My Kitchen Light Turn Off After a Few Seconds?

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a frustrating issue in my kitchen. I've got a light switch panel that manages the hallway light as well as two kitchen lights, and I'm having some trouble with the latter. While the hallway light switch works fine, the two kitchen light switches turn on but then shut off after some random time, usually under 30 seconds. I'm wondering what steps I should take to fix this problem, and at what point should I consider bringing in a professional? Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you checked if there's a three-way switch setup for the kitchen lights? Sometimes, if one of those switches is faulty—like if it's a dimmer—it could cause the lights to turn off unexpectedly. When they do go out, can you flip the switch back the other way and get them to turn on again, or do they stay off for a while? Also, it might be useful to listen for any crackling or buzzing sounds coming from the switch; that could indicate a problem.

Yeah, I've experienced that too! If there's a bad connection, it could be why the lights are misbehaving.

Honestly, if the lights keep turning off, this might be a sign that there's a wiring issue or something loose in the switches. It might be good to call a professional to check it out before it gets worse.
