I've been living in my home for five years and every summer when the temperatures peak, a faint smoke smell appears in the corner of my living room. It's so subtle that everyone thinks I'm imagining things. I've checked a few things to figure it out: I made sure the mulch outside isn't burning, vacuumed the HVAC ducts (found some cigarette butts but that's not the issue), and even had the fire department check the area with a thermal camera—no hot spots were found, and they think I'm just seeing things. This smell reminds me of wood smoke. There's a double chimney fireplace on the opposite side, but it's not windy and I can't figure out what's causing this smell. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Your thermal camera check was great, but what about electrical issues? Have you looked into any outlets near that corner? There might be a hidden wiring problem. I’d also suggest having your HVAC system checked just to eliminate that variable. If it persists, try turning off the electricity in that room early in the morning before it heats up and see if the smell changes. It could point you to the culprit!

Totally agree! Checking the outlets and wiring seems like a smart move. It could save you a headache later!
