Hey everyone! I just finished some renovations in my bathroom, including a new shower and vanity, and I replaced the toilet too. Since the renovations, I've noticed that the toilet seat is getting these annoying black and dark gray streaks. I've tried cleaning it with Lysol wipes and a mold-killing spray, but the stains keep coming back. Kohler even sent me a new seat under warranty, but I'm facing the same problem with that one too. Has anyone experienced this before? What could be causing it and how can I fix it?

Another thing to consider is whether there are any leaks in the ceiling or walls. Even if you’ve replaced the shower and toilet, if there's any leakage or condensation from the ceiling, it could lead to mold as well. Keeping everything well-ventilated is key!
It sounds like it could be mold! Have you checked the humidity levels in your bathroom? If the area is too humid and you’re not using a vent fan long enough while showering, that could be the culprit. Make sure you run the fan during showers and for at least 30 minutes afterward. If you're still having issues, you might want to think about upgrading to a more powerful exhaust fan to get rid of moisture better.
That's a good point! I had a similar issue and replacing my old fan made a huge difference in controlling humidity.

I did have mold issues before, and that's why I renovated. I used moisture-resistant materials, but I’ll double-check for leaks just in case.
