I recently started repainting a small master closet in my flip house after removing some old blocking. The paint I'm using is Behr Premium Plus Paint & Primer in Interior Eggshell Enamel, Ultra Pure White, which was stored in an uninsulated detached garage. The issue is that when I apply the paint, it smells like dog poop while it's drying. I heard that a smell like that might mean the paint has gone bad, but it doesn't have any odor once it's completely dry. I've already painted two thin coats. Should I be worried about a future problem, or is it okay to just spray some bleach on it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

In my experience, smelly paint or drywall mud usually means there's mold involved. It can smell terrible while wet, but it's not as bad when dry. You should definitely return that paint. Just to be sure, roll a bit on some paper or cardboard and give it a whiff. It could also be from residue like tobacco or shellac from old walls that could smell when wet.
Honestly, just get new paint, man. You don't want to spread something that smells like doo-doo all over your walls!
But what about my $25 Lowe's paint?! I really want to make it work!
I'm heading to the paint store tomorrow to grab some fresh stuff! Thanks for the heads up about my duplicate post, by the way. Guess the app glitched on me.

I tried rolling it on a towel like you suggested, and it turns out it’s definitely the paint. I was hoping it was the old materials given that this is a '50s house. What should I do about the two coats I've already put on? Should I sand it off completely or maybe use a bleach mixture? I don’t live in a humid area, so I’m hoping that helps with future mold issues.
