I'm really frustrated with my hard-wired smoke alarm that just won't stop chirping! I've tried everything: replacing the backup battery, flipping the power at the breaker for a reset, and even putting in a brand new smoke alarm. It worked fine for about 17 days, but now it's chirping again. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Have you thought about replacing any other smoke detectors on the same circuit? Sometimes, if they're connected, one can mess with the others. Also, if your alarms are old, consider just swapping them out altogether.
Have you checked if the wiring has power? It's strange that a new unit would start chirping too. You might want to double-check that connection.
And just to be safe, confirm that your detectors aren’t also monitoring for carbon monoxide. A leak could trigger some weird alarms. Better safe than sorry!
Also, make sure there's not a carbon monoxide detector with a low battery nearby. Sometimes that can cause confusion with smoke alarms too.
Mine used to chirp after a power fluctuation until I tested all the alarms on the same circuit. Maybe your alarm is doing something similar? It's a bit odd but true!
Totally agree. If it's running on a backup battery, it could drain that quickly if there's a wiring issue.
