I've got two cats, but I'm still dealing with mice in my kitchen! It's so strange because the mice seem completely unafraid of them. At night, I can see my cats sitting in specific spots, clearly listening and sniffing around for any sign of the mice. Just last night, one of them dashed under the counter and stayed there for half an hour, but came out with nothing. I was really hoping he'd catch his first mouse. What gives? Why are my cats so ineffective against these fearless mice?

Funny enough, my cats are pretty effective at catching mice, plus they occasionally bring other critters inside like moles and even a squirrel! But they have access through cat doors, so they can come and go without using the litter box. It's definitely a mixed bag with cats as hunters!
I totally get your frustration! My cats used to just sit there and watch the mice devour their food. Eventually, I set up a *bucket of death* trap, and that really helped clear out the mice. Sometimes, it seems like cats just enjoy the chase more than the catch!
