I'm in upstate New York (zone 6A) and it was really warm last weekend, so I decided to plant some beans and cucumbers. But now it's chilly again—no frost, but definitely colder than I expected. What could be causing this sudden drop in temperature? Is it ever going to warm up? I'm worried my cucumbers won't survive this cold snap. My gardening mentor at a previous community garden advised me to hold off on planting until June 1st, and it looks like they might've been right.

It looks like there's a polar dip affecting the northeast, including NY and PA. Definitely something to check out with NOAA for the latest updates on this unusual cold snap. Hang in there!
I get you! It's pretty cold up here in northeast PA too. I heard on the news that a nor’easter is heading our way with snow expected in New England, so that could affect your weather too. I'm keeping some containers indoors just in case, hoping for the best!
Hey! I'm also in New York, but downstate. It's way colder than expected here too! My summer crops have been out for over a week and while the lows are only in the mid 40s, it's really slowing down growth. This spring has been unexpectedly chilly compared to last year, which was much warmer.
