Why Is My 60V FlexVolt Battery Only Showing One Charge Bar?

Hey everyone! I've got a 60V FlexVolt battery that shows as fully charged on the charger almost instantly, which seems off. The charger itself works fine, and I've checked the contacts—they look clean. I tested the voltage and got 50.1V in flex mode and 17.11V in 20V mode after shorting C1 and C3. All the cells and internal parts appear to be fine. Is there anything I can do to try and fix this costly battery? Thanks for your help!

You might want to try charging it with a slower charger. I had a similar problem with one of my 4Ah batteries when I used a 6-amp charger. Switched to a 4-amp charger, and it charged fine after that! Maybe give that a shot.

Sounds like there might be a bad cell in there. It can be tough to replace the cells in FlexVolt batteries since they're encased in plastic. There's also a battery protection circuit that could be acting up, and sourcing a replacement for that isn’t easy. You might end up needing to accept it as dead if it's not charging properly.

That’s interesting! Mine still powers my saw, but it stops really quickly, which makes me think it’s just not holding a charge. I checked each cell, and they were all around 3.4V. It’s hard to tell for sure though.

I've had the same issue with separate 6Ah FlexVolt batteries after a few years. I took the side panels off and measured the cells, and they were out of balance—one cell was dead. Breaking down the pack to replace them looked tough, so I just called them dead. If you can, measure all the cells; if you have a power supply, gently charge the lower ones to see if that helps. Just don’t fully charge them, maybe just to about 3V, so the charger can recognize the pack again.

What voltages did you find? I can't locate a single cell that’s below 3.4V. How many cells are in there and do you remember? It’s tough with the PCB in the way!
