Why is my basement floor paint still tacky after a day?

I recently painted a small area in my basement after having to remove the carpet due to water damage. I applied the floor paint around 4 PM yesterday, but when I checked this morning, it was still tacky. What could have gone wrong?

It sounds like you might have applied the paint too thickly. That can definitely cause it to stay tacky longer. Also, if your basement's concrete was cold, that could affect the drying time too. Try getting a fan on it to help speed things up! What kind of paint are you using? If it's oil-based, it tends to dry slower than latex.

Just to add, temperature in the basement can play a big role. If it’s around 66-67°F, that shouldn’t be too cold, but it might still affect drying. Make sure your application wasn’t too thick, and keep those fans going!
