Why is My Bedroom Always Warmer and Poor at Air Circulation?

I've got a bedroom in my house that just won't cool down like the rest of the home. It's always around 3-5 degrees hotter. I've tried using the fan, keeping the doors open, and using sun-blocking curtains, but nothing seems to work. It's part of the main house, not an addition, and it's the smallest bedroom we have. I've heard about using a mini split or a window unit, but I'd really prefer to avoid that. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can fix it?

You might want to investigate your ducting. If there's a hole or crack somewhere, that could lead to insufficient air in your room. Maybe try renting an endoscope to check it out.

I hadn't thought about checking for duct issues, that's a good idea! Thanks for the suggestion!

Check how many outside walls your room has and how much afternoon sun it gets. It's also crucial to know how far it is from the air handler and how much insulation you have in the attic. If you have uninsulated spaces above like a porch or garage, that could be causing the issue too.

For my room, it's one outside wall getting all the afternoon sun and it's furthest from the air handler. There's just a thin layer of insulation above, yet the other rooms are fine.

Is your room at the end of the duct run? The direction your outside walls face matters too. Being a corner room surrounded by others could also impact air flow.

Yeah, it is at the end and it’s a top floor corner room. But I have another bedroom that's also a corner room, and it circulates air fine. Odd, right?

While this might not point directly to the cause, I've found that putting in vent booster fans can really help with circulation in rooms that struggle.

That's actually what I was thinking about trying next! Just worried about the noise from the fans since the last one I got wasn't really quiet.
