Why is My Ceiling Bubbling Up? Other Causes Besides Water?

Hey everyone, I noticed that the ceiling in my house, which is about 8 years old, has developed some random bubbles. I'm wondering if this could be due to something other than water damage, like a bad installation job, especially since it's been so long. I can see the tape lines pretty clearly, and I even cut into the bubble – it felt dry, so I'm not sure if it's from a plumbing issue. What do you all think?

Have you thought about sharing a picture of the ceiling? It might help others give you better advice! I know sometimes, it's not easy to pinpoint issues without visuals.
Oh, and later someone mentioned you couldn't upload pictures here, but if you could, it’d really help!

Bubbles like that are usually caused by water, but it could also happen due to poor surface preparation, not using a primer, or even using low-quality paint. It's good that it felt dry when you checked it, but you might want to keep an eye out for any signs of leaks just in case.
