Hey everyone! I've got a bit of a puzzler with my furnace. It sometimes leaks water, and I'm not sure why. Initially, I thought it was rainwater, but it wasn't raining yesterday when I noticed it again. The water seems to be coming from the corner of the ducting that goes into the top of the furnace. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any ideas on what could be causing it? Thanks!

It sounds like your air conditioning might be causing that water leak. When the AC runs, it removes humidity from the air, which can create condensation. There should be a drain pipe to help direct that excess water. If you see that it's pooling somewhere else, it might be worth checking to see if the drain is blocked up with debris or gunk.
If the water is dripping straight from the ductwork, it’s likely due to condensation forming on the ducts—especially if they’re exposed to warm, humid air. If your ductwork runs into an unconditioned attic, the cold temperature of the ducts can cause that condensation to drip down. Think of it like a cold soda can on a hot day! To help with this, you might want to Insulate those ducts better to prevent that condensation. That should really help decrease the moisture problem!
Thanks! I’ll check out the attic for the ducts. There is an old unused chimney up there too, so maybe it’s part of the issue.

Thanks for the tip! I have been running the AC all day. I’ll definitely check the drain to make sure it isn’t plugged. The hose looks pretty dry right now, though.
