Why is My Jigsaw Making My Table Vibrate So Much?
Asked by CraftyPineapple42
I'm just starting out with woodworking and I'm facing a problem with my solid wood tabletop that has metal legs (weighing around 20kg or 44lbs). Whenever I use my jigsaw to cut timber, the table jumps around a lot, and I can't figure out why. I suspect it might be because the table is a bit too light. I'm also wondering if switching to a cutting saw, like the tough build C700, would help. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Remember that a jigsaw cuts on the upstroke, so you should push down on the wood while you're cutting. This will help stabilize everything while you work.

Try using just a light pressure when guiding the jigsaw. You don't need to push hard, just let the tool do its thing while you keep firm pressure downward.

One tip is to clamp your workpiece as close to the cut line as you can. If it's too far off, it can bounce like a diving board when you use the jigsaw. Keeping it secure will definitely help reduce that jumpiness.
