Hey everyone! I noticed something strange today while using the dryer. Warm, moist air seems to be coming from a light switch on the wall next to the laundry room. The wall feels warm to the touch, especially around outlets and switches. When I took off one of the switch covers, I found a ton of lint packed behind it, and the warm air was really noticeable. I checked the outdoor vent, and it is pushing some air out, so at least the dryer is functioning somewhat. I'm concerned this could be a fire hazard. Can anyone explain what's happening and how serious this issue is? What steps should I take? Since I'm renting, I want to avoid any major fixes but I know I need to inform my landlord. Thanks!

You should definitely notify your landlord ASAP. This sounds like your dryer might be partially venting into the wall, which is a big fire hazard. It should be addressed quickly. The venting issue could be a simple fix, but cleaning out the lint from behind the switch might be a bigger job that you'll need to have the landlord handle. Don't wait on this one!
You're totally correct; it’s a serious fire risk! The fact that you’re renting complicates things, since the landlord needs to do the proper repair work. It’s likely that your dryer is venting into the wall somehow, which is a problem that needs to be dealt with immediately. Make sure you bring it up with your landlord in detail.
