Why is my soil showing 0 nitrogen and a super low pH of 3.5?

I'm trying to figure out why my soil test strips keep showing 0 nitrogen levels, even after I've fertilized my garden. I'm using BGI Citrus Gain for my fruit trees, and while some are doing okay, others are struggling. I've tested my soil multiple times in different areas, and both times the nitrogen was at 40 or below, plus the pH reading is a concerning 3.5. Besides fertilizing, is there anything else I can do to improve my soil?

That pH of 3.5 is incredibly low! Before you take any drastic measures, I recommend getting another test kit. Soil that acidic can make growing anything really tough. Right now, if your plants seem alright, it might be best to focus on adjusting that pH before worrying too much about the nitrogen.

Yeah, those budget test strips are often not reliable. You might want to try a different brand! That pH sounds more like something you’d find in a pickle jar.
