I'm trying to hang a TV in my living room, but I've hit a snag with my stud finder. I'm in a 50s brick ranch house, and the wall I want to use is an outside wall with studs supposedly 16 inches apart. However, my stud finder keeps detecting electrical signals at every stud along that wall, from the floor to the ceiling. It's the only wall in my house that does this, even though there's just one electrical outlet centered at the bottom. Unfortunately, this wall is my best option for mounting the TV due to furniture and window placement. Can anyone help me understand if it's safe to hang the TV here and why the stud finder is acting this way?

It sounds like you might be dealing with the main electrical wall of your house. Sometimes, if the electrical panel is directly below or very close to that wall, it can cause your stud finder to signal over the entire area. It’s worth checking where the panel is in relation to the wall you're using.

The panel is actually in another room, so that might not be it. Thanks for the tip!
