Hey everyone! I'm trying to grow sweet potato slips for my garden, but I've been having some trouble. I've kept a sweet potato in water for a few weeks, and while it's developed a long root, I'm still waiting for any slips to appear. It's sitting in a sunny window sill—any ideas on what might help?

You'll see much faster growth if you lay the potato on its side and partially bury it in warm soil. I like to use a plastic shoebox on a heating mat to create the right environment. The water method can be pretty hit or miss, so switching to soil might be your best bet!

Ok I’ll move it to soil and a heat mat today. Hopefully since it’s rooted already the slips won’t be far behind.
