I've noticed a section of vinyl siding on my house that seems to be warped, almost like it's been melted from heat. I'm curious if anyone has ideas about what could have caused this issue.

It could be due to reflective windows on nearby houses. Vinyl can handle the direct sun fine, but if it gets hit with intense reflected sunlight, that can really warp it. Also, don’t forget to check if there's a patio grill nearby that might be contributing to the heat.
If the warped section is facing south, the sun itself could be the main culprit. That side gets the most sunlight, which can lead to these kinds of distortions over time. Just something to consider if you live in a sunny area.
Another possibility is the installation. If the vinyl is too tightly nailed down, it can't expand and contract with temperature shifts. Make sure the nails were installed correctly; they should be in slots to allow some movement, or else you might see warping like this.
