I recently had a water filter system installed in my house to remove metals and lead from the water. However, I've noticed a drop in water pressure after running it for about 10-15 seconds. When I bypass the filter, the water runs normally. The installer mentioned that we might have a faulty filter and is planning to replace it, but the system has only been in place for a few weeks. The water hardness was tested at about 7 on the scale. Is there anything I can check to identify any issues or possible remedies?

Did you make sure the water entry was closed while installing? Sometimes, if they didn’t open it back fully afterward, it could restrict water flow. Try adjusting the valve a bit further to see if that helps.
Filters typically come with specs that detail the pressure drop at different flow rates. You should check the model and size of your filter and look up its datasheet. It’s not uncommon for lead-reducing filters to create a noticeable drop in pressure. You might want to consider using it just for drinking water instead of the whole house. Your installer should have anticipated this issue, though.
