Has anyone else noticed how pricey succulent soil can be? I'm using Duspro's 7-1 succulent mix and Jack's Gritty Mix, but it's adding up! I get that making my own soil is an option, but as a beginner, I'm a bit nervous about attempting that. Are there any good budget brands or alternatives out there?

If you check out Lowe's or local nurseries, you can find pine bark mulch for about $3-4. The Timberland brand is great because it’s not too chunky. Mix that with some pumice, or you can even get pumice labeled as 'dry stall' at Tractor Supply for less than you'd expect. You might also consider mixing in a bit of decomposed granite or chicken grit for extra texture!
I feel you on the prices! I usually go for the boring cheap solution like Miracle-Gro's cactus soil. Just mix in a bit more grit, like pumice or perlite, to get about an 80-20 ratio. This way, the soil works well without breaking the bank. Just a heads up though, I’ve noticed it can attract some gnats, but it’s manageable.
Totally agree! I recommend mixing Miracle-Gro cactus and palm soil with their perlite. It’s cheap, pretty much everywhere, and it works wonders! It's a hassle-free solution that lasts a while.
