I'm looking to buy some standard-sized, primed white, solid core flush doors, but I've noticed a big price difference. Local door companies are quoting me $175-200 per door without hardware or installation. In contrast, Home Depot is offering what seems like similar composite solid core doors for around $110 each. Can anyone explain why there's such a price gap? What am I really getting from the more expensive options? Thanks for any insights!

It's not that Home Depot's doors are bad, but the common advice is to skip them for installation. Many people find that while the doors are okay, the installation service isn't great. If you have a reliable installer, you should be good to go!
I recently bought a couple of doors from Home Depot. They’re decent for the price, but you might need to look through a few to find ones without dings. If you want something that looks better and functions well, consider visiting a lumber yard for better options.
I definitely plan to check things out in person. I've heard mixed reviews about deliveries at Home Depot, so I want to see them before I decide.
If you have a Menards nearby, order from there instead! Their doors usually match or exceed the quality of Home Depot's, plus they offer more selection at better prices.
Honestly, the main difference is often just perception. Many brands charge more because people believe higher prices mean better quality. Sometimes it’s just marketing. If you’re okay with a decent quality door, Home Depot could work for you.

Thanks for the tip! I'm lucky to have a reputable installer, but wow, $250 a door for installation seems steep here in California.
