Why Would My String Trimmer Stop Working After a Drop?

I was using my brand new string trimmer for about 45 minutes when I stumbled upon a yellow jacket nest. After a few stings, I dropped the trimmer and dashed inside. When I went back to check on it, it wouldn't start at all. I took out the trimmer head and the battery, put them back in, but still nothing worked. I was starting to think I broke it in the fall. However, after trying a second battery, it worked perfectly, and I also recharged the original battery, which seems to be fine too. Can someone explain why it stopped working after the fall? It was functioning great before the incident!

It sounds like you might have been nearing the end of the battery's charge when you dropped it. If it’s the XC8.0 battery, it should provide a decent run time, but if you'd been using it for 45 minutes, maybe it was running low. Sometimes trimmers cut off entirely at a certain charge level to protect the battery. It's possible that the impact triggered that shutoff. Glad to hear you survived those wasp stings though!

Yeah, that makes sense! Sometimes devices can act weird after being dropped. I had a similar scare with a tool once—better safe than sorry!

Honestly, dropping it probably didn't drain the battery, but it might have caused a short or a loose connection somewhere. It’s good to hear the trimmer worked with another battery. Just keep an eye on it; if it keeps failing after drops, there might be a deeper issue. And wow, wasp nests can be a real menace! Stay safe!
