I recently transplanted some zucchini and cucumber plants, and I'm worried about the upcoming nights that are forecasted to drop into the low 40s. This chill is only supposed to last for two nights. Should I take measures to protect my plants, like covering them with 5-gallon buckets, or will they be okay as is?

It's a good idea to have some frost cloth ready since they’re affordable and breathable. I ordered mine online, and it works like a charm! Instead of buckets, a light sheet or even an old pillowcase would do better if you need to cover them. Just remember, conditions can vary, so check with someone local if you're unsure.
Don't stress too much! Zucchini can usually handle low 40s without any issues. I've had them survive colder nights. So unless it's a frost, you might not need to cover them at all, but a little protection wouldn’t hurt if it will make you feel better!
